Star Wars Style "D" One-Sheet - Prepress Proof

Today we have another test proof from the Heidelberg 4-axis printing press. Notice that the billing block credits area and NSS property license, style, etc. have not been added to this Star Wars style "D" one-sheet yet. Also, below there is another digital picture of the Star Wars style "D" one-sheet closer to finalization but still has the color bars on the side. (Color bars are placed on a press sheet so that printers can make sure the colors are the correct density.

1977 Star Wars Holiday Advertisement

A full-page advertisement was taken out by 20th Century Fox in local newspapers, to wish everyone Happy Holidays during the 1977 Christmas season. It featured nine of the cast members wishing season greetings to all the moviegoers. The layout design was printed up by Gore Graphics, Inc. Interesting Note* - We cut several of these out of the local newspaper back in '77 and still have them today in one of our scrapbooks. Nice!

Star Wars 2nd Advance Teaser One-Sheet

Star Wars 2nd Advance Teaser one-sheet. Notice that the credits area has not been added yet. The second original advance poster was created by the design agency team of Doyle, Dane, and Bernbach (DDB Worldwide). It was printed on more traditional glossy heavy stock paper. The poster has the tagline, "Coming To Your Galaxy This Summer.", in big bold silver / gray lettering, however, the letters are slightly smaller than on the original advance mylar version.

Italian Guerre Stellari Billboard

Extremely rare Italian Star Wars billboard. Shows the full Thomas Jung illustration. The poster is so large it had to be unfolded and laid out on top of a rooftop courtyard. Thanks to a good friend in Rome for this polaroid picture. (24-Sheet Billboard - 300cm x 600cm / 110" x 220")

These 1978 advance Japanese poster ads were distributed and circulated to movie theater owners and others in the industry by 20th Century Fox distributors (The Far East Branch), to drum up interest for the upcoming film's release in 1978. Called "extras for theater owners", the ad proclaims the movie a "Mega Hit" in the USA. No.9595 on February 13, 1978.
