Other Info: To refresh the promotional campaign for the film, Japan issued these second Empire Strikes Back transit posters, that were displayed in subways and on buses. They were also posted in public areas, usually on commuter routes and station waiting areas. The poster art bleeds to the edge of the paper and has a blank white area at the bottom. It shows Cloud City, the space battle between several TIE-fighters and X-wings, a Star Destroyer, and a collage of characters and other locations from the movie. In the back you can see the glimmering Darth Vader helmet looming in the starry distance. The design layout is similar to the original Noriyoshi Ohrai illustration, but instead of using drawings, this poster harkens back to the old ways of using live still cutout images like the original Japanese "Star Wars" photo posters. At the top right it says, "The second in the Star Wars series!" (Star Wars シリーズ第2弾!) in orange lettering, and to the right of the main composition is the red Japanese title logo スター・ウォーズ 帝国の逆襲 with the cast and crew information centered beneath the logo. The tagline, "The Star Wars Saga Continues" and a smaller English language logo are printed above the logo, and the 20th Century Fox, and Dolby System emblems, are printed towards the bottom right of the graphic image. (See pic below)

Variations*: There are many different pre-printed and hand written versions of this transit ad that contain the different cinema and movie release and/or showtime information on them. The bottom blank white space of the poster is where these variations occur.
