Other Info: This poster was printed up for use in Japan's market during the re-release of the film to advertise the opening of the Japanese dubbed version. (May 15, 1982) It contains the traditional Thomas Jung illustration, with the sexy Princess Leia pose standing beside Luke Skywalker holding his lightsaber high in the air, pointed to the stars. C-3PO and R2-D2 are standing below Vader's large background helmet and there are X-wings racing to the Death Star overhead on the left. It has the tagline, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." in the top left hand corner, and the Star Wars triangular logo is located in the white credit block to the lower right hand side. The cast and crew information and the 20th Century Fox, Dolby System, and Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Box emblems, along with the copyright (© 20th Century Fox) are printed at the bottom of the poster. This all English version confuses a lot of people and they mix this one up thinking it is a small US style "A" reprint. Interesting Note* - There has been much speculation over the years as to why this version was needed in Japan, but it was probably used for the US Armed services. (There are 23 US Military Bases across Japan) Also, the same poster was reprinted again for the 1989 Pioneer Laser Disc promotion.
