Other Info: The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival was held from May 8-19, 2018 in Cannes, France. Solo: A Star Wars Story was selected to be screened in the 'Out of Competition' field with eight other movies. (These films are projected in the Théâtre Lumière but do not compete for the main prize. https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/films/solo-a-star-wars-story) To honor the film's selection at the festival, six additional grande-affiche posters were created for the presentation of the film. This first one has the global key art that features an orangish earth-toned, Western movie-style image, featuring beautifully painted takes on the main characters with a definite retro vibe. The background shows the window frame hatch marks from the Millennium Falcon's cockpit that peer out onto a rugged mountainous tiered landscape, while the main characters of the film, including Han Solo, Qi`ra, Lando, Chewie, Tobias, Val, and L3-37, are staggered front to back across the middle of the poster standing in front of a parked Millennium Falcon. Below the design, in the lower third of the poster, is the film's logo - Solo: A Star Wars Story in gradient orange. To the left of the logo is the Cannes Film Festival emblem. Below the palm leaf seal, it says, "Sélection Officielle - Hors Compétition - Festival De Cannes" (Official Selection - Out of Competition - Cannes Festival of Cannes). At the bottom center is the release date of the film, (Le 23 Mai Au Cinéma) and the French social media icons - Facebook StarWars.FR / Twitter @StarWarsFR #HanSolo. Also, there are several sponsor emblems of the event listed on either side of the date, along with the copyright information. (MY TFI, Demotivateur, Society, and Nova - Le grand mix).
