Other Info: The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), nicknamed the "Star Wars program", was a proposed missile defense system intended to protect the United States from attack by ballistic strategic nuclear weapons. The concept was announced on March 23, 1983, by President Ronald Reagan. For the next several years many people and countries around the world found the "Star Wars program" controversial and objected to President Reagan's "Star Wars" defense project. One of the many ways several groups/countries/factions voiced their differentiating opinions about the project initiative, was to print up political propaganda posters. As an obvious choice, because of the name of the program, theatrical posters were chosen as a way to express these opinions on the subject. Germany produced three political 'review' posters that contained a layout design of ripped topical headlines. They were each issued with one of the German film logos from the original trilogy at the bottom. This particular poster has the Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter logo, and says, "Den Krieg Der Sterne sollte man dem Kino überlassen:" (The Star Wars should be left to the cinema:). It also has "Ein Film von George Lucas" at the bottom and you can see a 20th Century Fox emblem to the right of the layout.
