Hungarian Star Wars Béke Cinema Standee
Other Info: In Hungary, many of the smaller and larger cinemas used their own graphic designers to illustrate films that were being released in their theaters, from the sixties to the late eighties. This Star Wars flexible cardboard standee was painted by Ludvig Zoltán for the Béke Cinema in Nagykanizsa. It has a blue-toned Chewbacca looking over his shoulder while standing above the vertical headshot of Princess Leia, who has pastel multi-colored paint daubs covering her face. The title of the film - "Csillagok háborúja", is in small white lettering on the right-hand middle side between what looks to be two abstract sci-fi shapes. At the bottom are the numbers 1-9, 0, which have no significance, Zoltán just thought it would go with the space fantasy elements. This is another incredible theatrical advertising sign from the international market. The artist's signature block is found just above the lower left-hand border. Actual size = 98.5cm x 121.5cm.
