Other Info: This original Estonian release poster was used to promote the film in '91. Estonia was occupied by Soviet forces in 1940. They returned, after evicting German troops, in 1944 and Estonia remained part of the Soviet Union until 1991. When the film began playing in the Soviet bloc, Estonia used the same Russian film poster as 'Mother Russia' to promote the Star Wars film. The only difference between the posters is that the Estonian film language titling, in black, was overprinted in the lower right-hand corner of the poster - "Tähesõjad" on the Estonian versions. The dark/brownish surrealist artwork was done by Aleksandr Chantsev, who was one of Majstrovsky's protégés. (Igor Majstrovsky did the style "A" foreign poster for Russia, used for the premiere showing of the film in September 1990). This smaller lobby poster is known as the "Cantina" (Кантина) because of the three alien heads surrounded by the cosmic space flares. It is also referred to as #650. It was published by the all-union advertising-информационный enterprise "Reklamfilm". The Russian Star Wars title "Звёздные войны" is found across the top in white lettering, and below the logo it says, "Галактическии Вестерн Производство - Сша • Автор Сценария Джордж Лукас В Ролях: М. Хэмилл, Х. Форд, А. Гиннес, К. Фишер и др." (Galactic Western Production - USA • Scriptwriter George Lucas Cast: M. Hamill, H. Ford, A. Guinness, K. Fisher and others.). The red distributor emblem (dp) is on the lower left-hand side, and this poster is found in matte paper versions. Copyright information - Художник А. Чанцев. 1991. Редактор Л. Анткпоеа.
