Other Info: “Impressive. Most impressive.” If Darth Vader had anything to say about artist Matt Ferguson’s 40th-anniversary poster for the Empire Strikes Back, it would surely be this famous line. Ferguson’s poster, published May 21, 2020 (the anniversary of Empire’s theatrical limited debut), is a gorgeous celebration of what many consider to be the greatest Star Wars film. Focusing, appropriately, on the Galactic Empire, the painting brings together some of the movie’s most famous iconography, including AT-ATs and TIE-fighters, the carbon freezing chamber, and a haunting Darth Vader, punctuated and centered with selective use of stark colors. Across the top in red lettering it says, "40th Anniversary", and below it is the familiar mantra, seen on most iconic 'Empire' posters - "The Star Wars Saga Continues". The logo is centered below the illustration and beneath it is the film's re-release date in red text (September 25, 2020). The cast and credits area is sitting at the bottom on the icy Hoth blue background and the 20th Century Fox symbol and PG rating box are found in the lower portion of this one-sheet poster. The poster has already been reprinted in many different print sizes and variations. (See pics below) Interesting Note* - Disney held a drive-in screening of the film on September 11, 2020, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA., for D23 Gold & Gold Family Members. The cost was $35 per car (plus a $5 processing fee), and for D23 General Members the cost was $45 per car (plus a $5 processing fee). Fans were encouraged to dress up for this socially distanced event and they were also given a smaller single-sided poster with this Ferguson artwork (18" x 27").

Variations*: There is also another version of this one-sheet that is identical to this one, except it is missing the red release date tagline - 'September 25, 2020' below the logo. It was supposedly issued as an international English version. However, it would be curious to know just how many other countries actually showed the 40th Anniversary film re-release of the "Empire Strikes Back" during the global pandemic.
