Other Info: This panel is part of the Jedi Adventure Center that was used to promote the Jedi Adventure Centers that opened in July of 1983 to capitalize on the the 4th of July weekend at major shopping malls across the nation, through July 17. At each of the malls, the centers, which were billed as ''modular environments' consisted of modular metal stanchions that housed twenty-five panels of artwork in all different sizes that included a Jedi Hall of Fame, with original artwork; a wraparound photo center that framed customers against a fantasy from the movie (such as the Ewok village); and a communications center for phone conversations with Darth Vader or See Threepio. This panel contains the development of the Stormtrooper. It has several original sketches of Imperial Stormtroopers by artist Ralph McQuarrie. Among the sketches is three inset movie stills of them in action and at the bottom is a full scale picture of a Stormtrooper holding his blaster. The Lucasfilm trademark is printed at the bottom. Interesting Note* - 1983 was dubbed by 20th Century Fox as the "The Year of the Jedi", and hence the gargantuan and ambitious Jedi Adventure Centers across the US, however, Lucasfilm's Sid Gannis, vice-president of marketing, said, "We don't feel it's appropriate to the film to talk about merchandising''. He wanted to keep the selling of toys etc. low-key and have reporters focus on the film. Fox representatives had other agendas.
