Other Info: This promotional art poster was organized and produced by AFI's (American Film Institute) director Jean Firstenberg, with the help of film director Steven Spielberg, and artist Drew Struzan. It was used for the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad to promote the film festival - America's Movies for the World's Athletes in Los Angeles, CA in 1984. The artwork itself was produced as a hand-out poster for all the competing athletes. This was the first and only time that all of the major Hollywood studios cooperated in the production of a work of art. Drew visited all three Olympic Villages to meet and autograph posters for the global visitors. It is printed on a heavy weight archival paper of museum quality and has the title "America's Movies for the World's Athletes" across the top. The background is gray and in the center is a compilation of several iconic American films. There are several colored small shapes random printed about the poster and at the bottom it has the "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984" and the 1984 USA Olympic logo at the bottom right. In the left hand corner it says, "A film festival organized by the American Film Institute". There are press and artist proofs of the athletes illustration. (See pic below)
