Other Info: This concert poster is from the "Sounds of Space" five-performance engagement held in April 1978. Billed as "A Symphonic Voyage Into The Realm of the Epic Space Films" it was performed at three locations in Northern California - San Jose Center For the Performing Arts, Marin Civic Auditorium, and Berkeley Community Theater. Hugo Rinaldi was the headline conductor, however John Williams led the 100-piece symphony for the Star Wars suite on at least one of the five nights. Lasers at the show were provided by Lasermation. This poster has the white framed border and credits area. This second illustration by McQuarrie shows a smaller French horn with the Tatooine sand landscape and a different world on the sky blueish purple horizon. In addition he added Obi-Wan Kenobi along with a gallant Flash Gordon both standing on a square platform. You can also see the Close Encounters spaceship in the upper right hand corner of the drawing. Below the art is the informational heading along with the "Sounds of Space" title, in blue and black text, in the formation of a pyramid. The rest of the concert information and playlist of suites (featuring music from Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Flash Gordon and Holst’s Planets) are also found in the credits area. It also has the locations, seat prices, and where to obtain tickets for each of the events.
